Jacob deGrom skips bullpen, drills, with tight groin

[ad_1]

PORT ST. LUCIE — Jacob deGrom was held out of drills Monday morning and skipped his scheduled bullpen session because of what he said was tightness in his groin.

DeGrom, the 27-year old who pitched the first game of the Mets playoffs last season, said he had slipped the other day while running. He was not overly concerned and called being pulled out of daily drills “a precaution.”

“I think we’ll just push it back,’ deGrom said of his bullpen session, indicating that he was going to throw on Tuesday. “I am not too worried about it.”

DeGrom went 14-8 with a 2.54 ERA last season. Terry Collins reiterated that the Mets had brought their pitchers in extra early this year so that they could ease them into the season and deal with the minor injuries that seem to happen at every camp.
