In mullets we trust.

University of Iowa wrestler Sammy Brooks has both working for him.

In a post-match interview after winning the 184-pound Big Ten championship, Brooks credited his success to his flowing mullet.

“I think these fans just respond really well to a good haircut,” Brooks said.

“That’s what I was working on coming in here, making sure I had it fluffed and feathered the right way and I think the fans saw my hard work.”

The junior wrestler, who beat Nebraska’s TJ Dudley, gave the entire interview completely straight-faced as if he were talking about actual moves, not his Billy Ray Cyrus-inspired hairstyle.

“I trust in myself and my mullet,” Brooks said.

“You can’t grow a great mullet in a day, you can’t win a Big Ten title in a day.”
