OWNER Barry Connell has confirmed he has ended his association with jockey Adrian Heskin, with an announcement about a new retained rider to be made “in due course”.

Heskin, who replaced Danny Mullins as Connell’s retained rider in October 2014, partnered Martello Tower to victory in the 2015 Grade 1 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

The Corkman enjoyed Grade 3 success this season aboard Connell’s Gwencily Berbas and also landed the valuable Grade A Boylesports Handicap Chase with Foxrock in January 2015.

“We’ll make a replacement announcement in due course,” Connell told the Racing Post on Monday.

Heskin is operating at a strike rate of 11 per cent this season, having ridden a total of 34 winners from 297 rides in Ireland this season.
