The road to Barclays Center wound through Nazareth Regional HS in Brooklyn on Monday, when the 132-pound and 165-pound novice divisions battled to start Week 3 of the 2016 Daily News Golden Gloves tournament.

The Colony Pest Bout of the Night came from the 132-novice division between Marlon Espinosa of Eastern Queens BC and Mark Brown (Atlas Cops N Kids).

“At 14 I was obese, weighing 200 pounds,” said Espinosa. “So I decided to get active, and I started losing weight quick and I started liking boxing.”

Now down to 132 pounds, the 20-year Queens College student, is still very active which was apparent as he outworked Brown with lots of movement and good bodywork on his way to a 3-0 victory.

In a fast-paced first round, both boxers displayed speed and will, but it was Espinosa who landed more punches.

With the crowd inside the packed gym into it, Brown slowed down a bit in the second round due to Espinosa’s persistent bodywork.

Brown received a standing 8-count when he didn’t return fire while laying on the ropes.

In the third round, the ref called another 8-count as Brown could no longer keep pace, leading to Espinosa’s win.

The P.C. Richard Boxer of the Night honor went to 165-pound novice Folorunso Fatomiloye of Gleason’s Gym, who beat his opponent Deshawn Hillard of New Bed-Stuy BC, 2-1.

The Empire Casino Punch of the Night was thrown by Ricardo Rodriguez of Gleason’s Gym in the 132-novice division. Rodriguez made it a short night with a one-punch knockout of Donovan Encarnacion of El Maestro BC just 1:28 into the first round.

The next Golden Gloves event will take place on Wednesday at Sotomayor Houses Center in the Bronx (7:30 p.m.).

The event benefits the NYC Homeless Shelters, so please bring a sweater to donate. Only 300 people will be admitted.
