The incident was not one of Leicester Tigers captain Ed Slater’s finest moments.

Here’s something that would never happen to a New Yorker.

An English rugby player was sidelined after accidentally slicing open his hand while preparing breakfast. What exactly was he cutting? A FROZEN bagel.

Not exactly the example Leicester Tigers captain Ed Slater wanted to set for his teammates.

“The moral of the story is don’t get a really sharp knife and try to cut a frozen bagel,” Richard Cockerill, the club’s director of rugby, told the BBC.

BIZARRE ATHLETE INJURIES

“The knife slips, slashes your hand and you have 14 stitches and can’t play.”

Slater, who had already missed time with a knee injury, was set to return to the field Saturday. He was replaced shortly before game time due to the self-inflicted wound.

“He is a bit disappointed with himself and he won’t be making breakfast anymore,” Cockerill told the network.

Surely the 27-year-old isn’t the only one disappointed by the mealtime mishap.
