Kevin de Bruyne was taken off with his leg in a brace during Manchester City’s Capital One Cup semi-final second leg victory over Everton.

The 24-year-old midfielder came on as a second-half substitute and scored City’s second goal in the 3-1 win.

But in injury time he fell awkwardly after a challenge and was carried off.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini told Sky Sports: “It could be the medial ligament. Tomorrow [Wednesday] we will have news but it is not a nice injury.”

City’s win gave them a 4-3 aggregate victory over the Toffees and they will now face Liverpool in the final.
