TWO years after handing in his trainers licence, Clive Brittain makes a return to the racing fold as an owner tonight when his mare Amthal runs at Doncaster.

Brittain called time on his 43-year training career last October, bowing out with six British Classics and a host of big-race winners around the globe.

Seven-year-old mare Amthal has had an even longer spell out of the game than Brittain as she last ran in 2011 when she won one of her three starts at Kempton.

Now in training with Lucy Wadham. Amthal runs in the Panelcraft Access Panels Fillies Handicap over 1m2f.

Brittain said:” I inherited her from an owner who wouldn’t pay his bills. She had ability a few years go and has been working well so hopefully she can run well.”
