One day after joking that he had never heard the name of the Spurs’ highly regarded executive, the Nets announced Marks as Brooklyn’s new general manager.

MIKHAIL PROKHOROV ADMITS MISTAKES IN OPEN LETTER

“I’ve never heard this name before,” the Russian owner of the Nets said jokingly on Wednesday when asked about the rumors the team was closing in on Marks.

Marks was an assistant to Spurs GM R.C. Buford. Marks, the first native of New Zealand to play in the NBA has been considered a rising star within the San Antonio organization.
