Broncos' Antonio Smith: Tom Brady is a big crybaby

A Broncos player says Tom Brady whines to referees when he’s sacked.

Tom Brady might be one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, but one Broncos player says he’s also a Super crybaby.

“I’ve never seen any quarterback look to the referee right after he gets sacked more than Brady,” saiddefensive lineman Antonio Smith, who agreed that calling the Patriots signal-caller a “crybaby” would be an accurate statement.

Several Broncos players seem to be poking the bear ahead of the reigning Super Bowl champs heading to Denver for the AFC title game on Saturday.

“Every time he gets sacked he looks at the ref like, ‘You see him sack me? Was that supposed to happen? He did it a little hard. Please throw a 15-yard penalty on him. Get him fined.'” Smith said.

Ouch.

Brady was sacked 38 times this season — he’s only been sacked more in two other seasons during his 16-year career.

Smith did add that although the four-time Super Bowl champ complains a lot, he isn’t fazed by much.

“He’s not going to rattle just because you hit him hard. I’ve tried over the years,” Smith said. “That’s what D-linemen think: ‘The harder you hit the quarterback, the better it will make it on the secondary.’

“With Brady, he’s a great competitor. You know it’s coming. He’s going to cry about getting hit, but he’s going to take the hit and keep going.”

This week, Smith’s Broncos teammates —linebacker Brandon Marshall andcornerback Chris Harris Jr. — seemed to take shots at one of Brady’s favorite targets: Rob Gronkowski.

Marshall said on NBC Sports’ “Pro Football Talk Live” radio show Monday that the New England star tight end regularly “pushes off.”

“He gets away with it about 98 percent of the time,” Marshall said.

While Harris Jr. said on “SportsCenter” that the best way to take down Gronkowski was to “hit him low,” specifically at “his knees.”

Gronkowski suffered a knee injury during the Patriots’ loss to — who else? — the Broncos.
