“Surgery’s over and on the long road to recovery. I want to thank Dr. Hyndman and the nursing staff at Rocky View Hospital for an outstanding job. I also want to thank my family, friends and support. Things are looking up and I should be home in the next couple of days. In the words of Vince McMahon: ‘It’s onwards and upwards,'” Hart wrote in the post.

The wrestling icon announced on Feb. 1 that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, saying that he was ready to “face my toughest battle.”

Though he is quoting McMahon now, the retired wrestler and current CEO of WWE was once an adversary of Hart’s. The two came to blows in the locker room after the legendary “Montreal Screwjob” fight. Hart reportedly knocked McMahon out cold with one uppercut punch.

“It was the most beautiful uppercut punch you could ever imagine,” Hart told “Sports Illustrated” in 2014. “I broke my right hand just beneath the knuckle and knocked Vince out cold.”

But the feud has died down in recent years and McMahon wished Hart well on the day of his surgery.

“Another challenge for Bret Hart, but ultimately victory. #GoodLuckToday,” McMahon wrote on Twitter.
