Mets slugger Yoenis Cespedes replied “no political questions” when asked about Donald Trump’s candidacy on Thursday.

PORT ST. LUCIE — Don’t expect the Mets to join the chorus of athletes commenting about Donald Trump’s run for the White House.

Mets spokesman Jay Horwitz said on Thursday that the team was advised during media training sessions earlier in spring training to publicly avoid all questions concerning politics or the presidential race.

When asked Thursday if he had an opinion about Trump’s candidacy, Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes — a native of Cuba — said through an interpreter that he would answer “no political questions.”

In Tampa, Yankees stars Alex Rodriguez, Carlos Beltran and Mark Teixeira also declined to comment when asked about Trump.

Former Yankees outfielders Paul O’Neill and Johnny Damon endorsed Trump earlier this week. O’Neill attended a Trump rally on Tuesday in Florida, while Damon told the Daily News he supports his former “Celebrity Apprentice” boss’ vow to a build a wall along the border between the U.S. and Mexico and his immigration policies.

Former Yankee Paul O’Neill backed Donald Trump at GOP front-runner’s rally on Tuesday.

“Everyone is calling him a racist, but he just wants people to come into this country legally and fill out the proper paperwork,” Damon said. “The issues all the other politicians failed to discuss, (Trump) is bringing us up to speed.”

Former Yankees slugger Reggie Jackson didn’t endorse Trump but told The News earlier this week “he’s fun and I think he’s got a big heart.”

Mr. October added that he believes a wall between the U.S. and Mexico is not the right decision, and he made a cringeworthy joke to explain his rationale.

“We need to control it and we need to do something about it, but we can’t do it like that,” Jackson said. “We need to be concerned about more jobs here and people coming in here that we really don’t want, but if it’s not for the Latin American community, we don’t have any cooks in our Italian restaurants. We don’t have any cooks at the steakhouses.

“We don’t have anyone to do that kind of work, so be careful.”
