Kristaps Porzingis hopes to be back on the court after battling a stomach virus.

OAKLAND – Kristaps Porzingis is still recovering from a stomach virus that forced him to miss Sunday’s win over the Lakers but he remains optimistic that he’ll be available for Wednesday’s game against Golden State.

“No it’s not gone,” Kurt Rambis said. “As we pulled into the arena he had an episode. So it ain’t gone. I don’t know what it is.”

Porzingis said it was “tough” to miss a final chance to play against Kobe Bryant but was happy that he faced him last November in New York.

“To be here for his last season is an honor for me,” he said.

A CUT ABOVE

Carmelo Anthony’s hand-to-face defense on Stephen Curry last month caused Curry to suffer a cut on his forehead. The league’s reigning MVP later admitted that he was upset with Anthony’s defense and long fingernails.

“I would have been angry too if somebody would have scratched me in my face like that,” Anthony said. “I would have been angry. It wasn’t on purpose but I definitely would have been angry. He doesn’t wear headbands so, but I’d been angry.”

Anthony, who claims LeBron James as one of his best friends, believes that Curry has earned the right to be considered among the best in the league.

“I’m not big on making comparisons,” he added. “What he’s doing right now this season nobody has ever done. We haven’t seen that type of player . Even when (Allen Iverson) was on that roll it wasn’t the same type of game. Not too many people have the same type of game that Steph has. He might be the only one who has that type of game.”

NO PHIL FOR CURRY

Phil Jackson, who recently compared Curry to former NBA player Chris Jackson, is not expected to attend Wednesday’s game. When asked if Jackson’s comparison could motivate Curry, Rambis said: “You’d have to ask him that. I think they’re focused on winning a championship rather than him trying to show anybody up.”

When the Warriors defeated the Knicks in New York, Curry scored just 13 points.

“I think Curry probably held himself to 13 points, Rambis added. “We want to try and make him work at both ends. He’s going to be one of those players that causes us problems, just because of his activity level. The depth at which he shoots the basketball his ability to penetrate he’s going o cause our defense a lot of problems.”
